Tips for Knitting the Perfect Wedding
When knitting for a wedding, you want to think about really creating an heirloom that could be passed down. A gorgeous knit shawl or wedding bouquet could be used by a child or grandchild for their own wedding!
So, with that in mind, here are some tips for knitting the perfect wedding items:
First, yarn quality counts big time when it comes to making an heirloom. You want something that is going to stand the test of time and look as good in 50 years as it does today. So this would not be a time to skimp and buy the cheapest yarn out there. This is a time to invest in some quality yarn. Buy the nicest yarn you can, and check on the care requirements before you buy.
Also think about how you are going to store the item. Is it wool? Will it need to be protected from moths? Is this something you plan on wearing or using after the wedding? How does it need to be cared for? Can you wash it by hand or by machine? All of these are things to consider when choosing a quality yarn for a knit wedding pattern.
Next, give yourself more time than you think you need. Things usually come up, and you don't want to be stressed out pulling a few all-nighters before the big day, especially if it's your big day!! You need to be rested and ready to go. So plan an ample amount of time and then add some, especially for a larger project, like a large shawl out of fingering weight yarn or an entire dress.
Now, let's take a look at these FREE patterns!
